To Determine the Dissolution Time for Chromphenairamine

Requirements:

      i.          Measuring cylinder

    ii.          Conical flask

  iii.          Beaker

  iv.          Pipette

    v.          Filter paper

Procedure:

According to USP

    Place the stated volume of dissolution medium at 37+0.5^oC.

    Place one tablet in apparatus taking care to exclude the air bubbles from the surface of dosage form.

    Operate the apparatus at the specific rate in individual monograph 50rpm for 15minutes.

    Withdraw the suspension from zone midway between the surface of medium and top of rotating paddle.

    Withdraw a suspension from zone midway between the surface of dissolution medium and top of rotating paddle from vessel walls.

    Withdraw 10ml from each vessel and pour in the test tube assigned numbers.

    Take 5ml from each test tube to make dilutions.

    Place them in spectrophotometer and note the absorbance of each dilution and calculate %availability.

Precautions:

·       If liquid aliquot is turbid, filter it otherwise make dilutions.

·       Apparatus should be calibrated with disintegration tablets (salicylic acid) and non-disintegration tablets (prednisolone).
